Veitshöchheim

We decided to be on vacation today. So we woke up and walked up the river. We strolled along the lovely bike path, which is dotted with lots of parks and things. Of course we had to try everything out!

6 miles later we ended up at the gardens of the Schloss Veitshöchheim, the summer palace of the Prince Bishops of Würzburg.

This grotto was amazing (even though we only got to see it from the outside).

And hedges and a lake and lots of statues.

We sketched and painted and created crowns from fallen vegetation. I think I could live here; small castle, big yard.

At the end of the day, we decided to treat ourselves and take a boat back to Würzburg (after pastries from a bakery in town, of course).

And finally there is beginning to be a little bit of autumn colors showing up! Vacation is good, even for just one day!

  1. I was gonna say ‘but aren’t you always on vacation “ and immediately recognized the untruths Of course from here, it looks like a fairy wonderland, parks & pastries …. it’s a wonderful city you like in

  2. I am so happy that you are adjusting even to the annoyances of shopping every other day and hanging up the laundry. At least the Germans have learned how to take turns and stand in line much better than they used to. I am not surprised that the girls are doing well in school and making friends. Have you, Gretchen and Bill, found some friends? Sometimes it can take a bit – I like the wink! I would smile, too. Thanks for sharing. We had our first snow on the mountains last week. Wolf Creek opened for skiing on weekends on Sat, Oct 13. It might not last long, but Denver got 4″ yesterday. Winter is trying to arrive. I am glad to see you are enjoying the fall and scenery. You can come back and create wonderful playgrounds with all your experiences. Tschuessli! Carroll
