People throw away amazing things here in Quincy. We’ve seen the garbage truck eat toilets, whole sofas, desks, TVs, lawn furniture, high chairs, strollers. And most of these things are in fine working order. I guess the thought is, if anyone wants it, they can take it; otherwise it just goes away with no hassle. We have helped ourselves on occasion. For instance, Maggie’s book chest/changing table was found on the curb down the street.
But the coolest thing to be found:
Rescued from a construction site and now hanging proudly on our porch. Best thing I’ve ever found and carried home on a run.

Sweet Maggie needs to know that this trash-picking thing is probably in her blood. Her Grandpa Scotty used to get up early when we lived in apartments in Wisconsin so he could go through all of the trash bins before the trash truck came through. He insisted that what he found was treasure, the rest of us weren't so sure!
I have pictures of Bill clutching backyard fence on 'trash day', the most important day of the week for him. The truck guys would make a special stop & put on quite the show for him. They would make lots of noise, and of course, when the compactor started…..well life never got any better for Bill
Will locate these pictures & send
Trash is the family motto- dad and I worked with (hazardous & radioactive) waste so I guess, trash comes naturally to u all.
